Green Lane, TW46JF, Damage to my car during grass cutting my council / Motorway maintenance
Reported via mobile in the Complaint category anonymously at 19:30, Sat 22 March 2025
Sent to Hounslow Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7320431.
I have spoken to Hounslow Council (Manpreet Kaur from Lampton Services) and they have asked me to forward my case your team. Please see the issue below and I request your support and help in this please. On 23rd October 2024 sometime in the early morning, Hounslow Council had sent to cut grass from the pavement of the road where all the residents park their car outside my Green Lane, TW46JF. Like every other residents I parked my car on the night before and until the early morning there was no damage to my car, I have a witness to confirm that there was sign of any damage until 6:30am in the morning. But at around 11:30am I was told that the driver side window glass of my car has been damaged. I checked and found that there was no sign of break in entry to my car and it seems that the window glass which was towards the pavement side has not been hit by someone with an object as it would be obvious if someone had tried to do that. But I then realised that the grass has been cut. It seems that during cutting grass which was close to my car window, a gravel / tiny stone has been hit by the machine to my car and smashed my car window. This is not the first time it could have happened and I am sure other councils had encountered those incidents in the past. I have reported this incident to my motor insurance company and awaiting for my window to be replaced. What I am really upset about is that nobody from those workers had left any notes to my car out of courtesy that this incident had occurred due to them. I use my car for daily my work and personal use and I cannot use it until it’s fixed. I wasted my day off yesterday due to this. It has also caused me emotional damage as I care very much about my car. My car has everything genuine and replacement glass is not going to be the same but will be after market product. I sincerely and humbly request the council to please compensate for all my stress and trouble. I had paid £115 for replacement glass access to my insurance
