London road roadworks

Reported via mobile in the Development Proposal/ advice category anonymously at 21:28, Wed 27 September 2023

Sent to Hounslow Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5038940.

When will these be finished it’s so dangerous I fell off my bike because the traffic is so bad. And cars / busses give you no room. Most of the Time from McDonald’s to Kew bridge I have to cycle on the wrong side of the road as the cars give NO ROOM on the left. There are raised iron works near the Sainsbury’s heading toward Chiswick and a random tarmac ramp from road to curb which is close to the raised iron works. Temp filling of roads are shocking - some cycle lane is finished but unusable. The cycle lane on the river is blocked by a flatbed truck man doing “gardening” works every morning, forcing cyclists on to the path! At the end of the path it’s a right angle turn to get back on the cycle lane which made me fall off after the rain on Monday morning, these road works are taking an astonishing amount of time. When world is actually happening. Did you actually ask cyclists for any input?????

Updates

  • The gap between buses stopping and passengers disembarking from the bus and the new cycle lane is less than 40cm and it is very dangerous and only a question of time before a bus passenger disembarking gets hit by a rider on the cycle lane. The planners have totally ignored the basics of pedestrian safety and this is idiotic and troublesome with potential fatality for senior citizens. The exuberance of providing a cycle lane at the expense of pedestrians is shambolic and gives rise to potential fatality / serious injury and consequently litigation that will follow for sure. Sort it out ASAP bus stop is right opposite the music museum..
