Ground has sunk around water meter

Reported via iOS in the Fault on public right of way category by Andy Christou at 13:51, Sunday 25 June 2023

Sent to Hounslow Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4713589.

A large hole has appeared around the water meter pipe outside 69 Wood Lane, it is on the pavement area. Worry is that the meter housing could collapse and break the water mains feed into the house

  • The coucile refuses to take any responsibility. As the subsidance begins around the water meter fitting on the public footpath and extends under my drive way, the borough engineers insist that I fixe my portion of the hole before they can fux their problem!!! ???? How on earth can I do that!

  • I had to do something, I got some builders who tested the void. There was no damage to any pipe work. We packed the hole with hard core and pressed it down hard and filled the hole with concrete. Now waiting for the water board to fix their meter housing.

  • I informed the council on 24 August that I completed the repairs to my side of the hole as instructed. A council officer painted a wighr square around their hole to show the extent of the repiar needed. Since then there has been no activity from the council. Some ten days ago I sent an email (no-one answers the phone) explaning that their hole is preventing me the use of my drive way. So I am now at risk of getting parking fines. It would be nice if in the interim they could give me a temporary residence parking permit. is that too much to ask?
