Weeds on pacements

Reported via mobile in the Weeds on roads or footpaths category by Harish Sharma at 18:23, Sunday 22 May 2022

Sent to Hounslow Highways less than a minute later

The pavements in Cardington Square are covered in weeds. When are they going to be cleared? I have been complaining about these for the past 4 years but nothing ever gets done. Can I have a reply before you close the report???

  • State changed to: Action scheduled

Updated by Hounslow Highways at 15:32, Monday 23 May 2022

  • Can the council please indicate what action is scheduled to those reporting these cases.

It seems like the council just change the status of the case but do not take responsibility to inform the public as to what action is scheduled.

We want clear answers from the council as to exactly what action will take place and when.

Sick and tired of these elected council just pushing a button to move to a new stays without any information!

  • Dear Harish Sharma, We are writing in response to your enquiry regarding the weeds in Cardington Square, Hounslow. An inspection was carried out this morning by a Community Environment Officer. We would also like to inform you that as part of Hounslow Council’s Cleaner Greener Campaign we are no longer using chemicals for weed removal due to the hazardous nature of the chemical Glyphosate which is present in the weed sprays. Teams are currently manually removing weeds throughout the borough. As such we are unable to provide an exact date as the process for manual removal of weeds does take longer. Thank you for your understanding and patience whilst the weed team work their way through the borough. We will close this enquiry however we have brought this to the attention of the Street Cleansing Team, requesting that this road is added to the current schedule for weed removal. Thank you for taking the time to submit your enquiry. Dear Ms Maharaj Above e-mail received tells a different story.!! Harish Sharma

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 13:04, Monday 18 July 2022

  • Yesterday 3rd August 2022, Tim Hurley met a number of Cardington Square residents to express our concerns.

    2 topics were raised:

    1. Weed issue on pavements and kerbside 2. State of the uneven pavements

Tim Hurley took an action to send a team out on Friday 05 August 2022 to tackle the weed issue. Will signs be put up today to inform residents to move their vehicles, so that the work can take place.

  • Councillors need to resign immediately! They do not care about Hounslow.

  • Hounslow Highways workers did show up today.

However they left after a few hours and did not achieve much.

Hounslow Highways and Hounslow Council are pathetic!!! They all need to resign! Pathetic job that they are doing.

All talk but very little action.

As residents we should withhold payment of Council tax until we receive the services that we have paid.

Absolutely pathetic Council . Contract to Hounslow Highways should be retracted. They have seriously failed to maintain the streets.
